It takes a lot of time.  Two - three hours or more.

You have to be patient. There will be a lot of stopping. Starting. Repositioning. Crying.

You will do more waiting than shooting. Mom feeds. Calms. Changes.

Newborn photography. Worth. Every. Minute.

Two of the best parts about my job is meeting new families and holding newborns.  I can't wait to meet their new arrival.  For now, but not for long, they are a family of three.

Frozen Moments

Freezing time is what is all about!! I am now personally regretting not documenting my pregnancies... I will never be pregnant again! Well, lets just say, I don't plan to become pregnant again!  These first time parents got married a few years back and moved away to Tennessee.  I haven't seen her since.  She came home, to Richmond, for her shower and maturity session.  Moment frozen...they can always look back.  All 3 of them....

...and because she's so gorgeous here I cannot decide!

Precious

I am always so honored when a close friend comes to me for pictures.  Some tend to think, "Oh, Candice is too busy, I don't want to bother her." Noooo, bother me, please! I LOVE photographing for the people that are closest to me.  It is a pressure free session, they trust me and are willing to let me try things that I wouldn't normally try with a new client.

This AMAZING friend purchased and moved into a new home about 4 days before giving birth. Wow! Talk about a lot going on... So when I pulled up to their new house for the first time and saw the ivy and landscape in the shaded yard, my mouth dropped and I thought, "Oh yeah! This baby is coming outside!"  An outside newborn session for a newborn of a first time mom, would scared the heck out of some.  After unpacking my newborn session props, I got a formal tour.  They were literally still moving in.

I captured some of the sweetest, most precious newborn images.....Mom trusted me and it shows!

I finally got to photograph a newborn GIRL!!! I have to say, I think I am partial to photographing girls. Now, I can say that for all ages. With girls you can go crazy with the cutest props, outfits and accessories. Not so much for my handsome boys. I love all of my sessions but this is one of my favorites. With a gorgeous mom, dad and baby, how can you go wrong?

It just hit me.....

I've introduced myself and my daughter, but not the men of the house. My little guy was born in February 2010. He is already 3 months old. Where does the time go? I will be reporting back to the full time J-O-B Tuesday. Anyway, without further ado....my son and hubby....
