Lets Take a Long Walk....
After several months of snapping pictures of my daughter, I remember thinking, can I be creative with poses, can I give direction from someone who is old enough to take direction? I sat on those thoughts for months, wondering how I was going to ask friends and family to get in front of the camera for me. I drafted an email....never sent it out. Mostly because of my "comfort zone fear". I was comfortable taking pictures of my daughter and trying new things with her....taking pictures of adults/friends & family was something different. But I couldn't help but to wonder if it was something I would be good at or are my pictures of my daughter good because she is my daughter...you know what I mean?
In late 2008, my Brother-in-law had mentioned me taking pictures of him and his girlfriend. Well, March 2009 rolled around and I finally had the opportunity to photograph my Brother -in-law and his girlfriend. I was nervous. I knew I wanted to create images that were stylish, but simple with a modern and unique twist. Here are a few from that session...
I love the contrast in his denim here. It makes the image more interesting. Clothing is an important part of portraits. This would have a totally different feel if he was wearing khaki pants.
Editing was another learning experience. It took me forever to edit these images in Photoshop.
